TYPICAL HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM

STOP AND THINK!

IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO REPLACE BRAKE HARDWARE AND HYDRAULIC PARTS?

CONSIDER THESE FACTS!

NEW HYDRAULICS GIVE NEW PERFORMANCE

The wheel brake cylinder and master cylinder dust boots and hydraulic piston cups are vital to brake performance. The brake cylinder piston and brake shoe must move freely. The dust boot prevents dirt and moisture from contacting the piston an piston cup. The piston cup not only prevents brake fluid leakage but acts as a self-adjusting mechanism.

The cup pushes the piston. When sufficient shoe lining to piston clearance exists the cup allows the piston to slip back into the cylinder. As the cup pushes the piston it is forced out when hydraulic pressure is applied, and returns to normal when the pressure is released and the shoe return spring pushes the piston back into the cylinder. The return action of the shoe is stopped by the shoe adjusting eccentric. This action gives running clearance.

If residue and corrosion collects on the piston and cylinder bore the piston movement will be restricted and insufficient lining clearance will develop, leading to rapid wear.

Always replace the cylinder dust boot, piston cup and piston spring with a new brake cylinder or repair kit and clean the piston and bore with every shoe replacement or reline.

OLD BRAKE HARDWARE WEARS OUT- NEW BRAKE HARDWARE EXTENDS BRAKE SHOE LINING LIFE.

Rubber brake parts wear out, they deteriorate with age, heat and stress. The running clearance of the shoes depend on the proper relaxation of the rubber dust boots and piston cups. Brake cylinder springs, brake shoe return springs and brake shoe hold-down parts wear out and lose their tension due to heat, constant stretching, and compression when the brakes are applied and released. Adjusting parts are also affected by stress and heat. Adjusting cables stretch, and worn adjusting parts prevent the brake assembly from properly adjusting. Hydraulic brake hoses harden, crack, and deteriorate with age, they are designed to flex smoothly with the axle travel. They should always be replaced when any sign of wear is apparent. All axle shaft and wheel hub oil seals are designed for one time use only and should always be replaced to prevent oil and grease leakage.

If these parts are not replaced the results will be high shoe lining wear, brake fluid, oil and grease contamination and poor brake performance.

DO THE JOB RIGHT - YOUR LIFE MIGHT DEPEND ON IT!

ALWAYS USE NEW HARDWARE AND HYDRAULIC PARTS-PERFORM A BRAKE JOB THAT YOU CAN RELY ON!

THE OEM BENDIX AND WAGNER BRAKE COMPANIES STAND BEHIND THEIR NAME AND QUALITY- WHY WOULD YOU USE ANYTHING ELSE!
