The A-1139 UNIVERSAL RIFLE
HOLDER was attached to the lower windshield panel on the MB, GPW and
M38
Jeeps. It was standard equipment on many other WW II trucks as
well. It was designed to safely and conveniently carry and stow
the Browning Automatic Rifle ( BAR ), the Thompson Sub Machine Gun and the M1 Garand Rifle or
M1 Carbine.
As seen in the image above,
the Kalashnikov AK-47 fits in it quite well. Almost any rifle or
shotgun will fit in this holder. The overall length is 38 ½ inches
with the rifle barrel end open to account for long barreled guns.
The Rifle Holder can be
mounted horizontally on any flat surface and can be mounted in the
vertical position with the base bolted to the floor.
The spring loaded swing away
barrel bumper and spring loaded rifle butt bracket will securely
hold any weapon in the roughest off road driving conditions. |
